About Us

Consistently Delivering Unparalleled Value

From our humble beginnings, State Street Poultry was simply an inner city "ice packed" chicken distribution arm of Holly Farms (an integrated processor that today is locally owned). In the early 1960's Holly Poultry was spun off from the parent company and became an independently owned distributor servicing the Baltimore market.

In 1990, under new ownership, the mission for State Street and its role in today's marketplace started to change. A new vision of expansion and growth directed State Street Poultry & Provisions into new markets. The addition of fresh pork and fresh boxed beef categories expanded our offerings to both wholesale and food service markets. The introduction of poultry further processing started to address product needs for our own customers and market. Through our distributor partners, we began providing a fresh local supply of poultry based products better suited to meet their customer's needs. Increased product categories, combined with the expanded geographic market, supported our substantial year over year growth.

In support of our mission, State Street relocated in 2000 to a larger facility on Berlin Street in Baltimore. Today's location was specifically designed to target tomorrow's opportunities in both custom processed poultry programs and the best offerings of wholesale brands of poultry, beef, pork, and turkey available. Now, over a decade later, branded volume exceeds 30 million pounds annually, with an overall volume in excess of 100 million pounds.

Stephanie McShane

CFO – State Street Poultry & Provisions

As Chief Financial Officer, I am responsible for overseeing the corporate functions in support of the company objectives, including Finance, IT and Human Resources, which allows me to do what I love best - share my knowledge of process improvement, employee development and risk management processes that enhance our overall ability to make good business decisions in a timely manner while managing risk at all levels of the organization.

Prior to joining State Street, I worked for several Fortune 100 companies in a variety of industries, around the world.  As a military spouse, I found it hard to balance my career, support my husband and be available for our son, so I choose to leave the workforce in 2014 to focus on my family.  Following my husband’s retirement from the military in 2018, I was looking for an opportunity to share my knowledge and was excited to find a role at State Street that would allow me to not only share my experience with others but develop new skills as well.

Professionally, I have more than 20 years of leadership and finance experience.  Prior to joining State Street Poultry in 2018, my last employer was British Petroleum where I worked in multiple roles across the organization, including solar, retail, pipelines, drilling, and major upstream projects, ending as the project manager for BP’s upstream risk management and reporting.

I am a graduate of Hope College, (Class 1990) with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics. In 1995, I earned a Master of Science in Accounting from the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University and passed the CPA exam in 1997.

I live with my husband and son in Anne Arundel County, MD, where we enjoy a variety of water sports and spend time hanging out together as a family while we plan our next great travel adventure.

Guy Davis Jr.

COO –State Street Poultry & Provisions

As Chief Operating Officer, I am responsible for supporting and integrating the procurement, distribution and sales activities for State Street which allows me to share both my passion and experience in the meat industry and mentor the next generation of professionals.

I always knew growing up that I wanted to be in the meat business.  I started working in my family’s meat business at the age of 14 back when meat came in on the rail and required in house butchers to cut the meat up prior to distribution to grocery stores and restaurants.

After the sale of my family’s business, I took a break from the meat business and became a commercial fisherman.  While working in fishing, Mike Fine approached me about coming to help him break into the other proteins beyond chicken.  I worked for Mike off and on in a consulting role until 1997 when I joined the company full time as the beef and pork procurement manager.  In 2017, I was asked to take over as the COO of State Street. I took on the challenge because I wanted to expand the business into proteins other than chicken as well as help the team implement new and creative solutions to long standing problems.

I live with my wife and daughter in Anne Arundel County where we enjoy spending time together watching our local sports teams and attending Martial Arts competitions.

I love big game fishing and also improving our taekwondo skills.

Teresa Steals

Director of Sales - State Street Poultry & Provisions

As the Director of Sales, I oversee our sales team at State Street. Our team is focused on wholesale and retail sales. My goal as a collaborative leader is to create an inclusive environment for both the sales team and our customers. Sharing my experience to inspire my team to be the best they can be as protein specialists is my passion. Partnering with our customers is where we will excel.

Prior to State Street, I spent most of my career in the restaurant business. I owned my first restaurant at 24 and spent many wonderful years as an owner operator. After leaving the operations side of the foodservice business, I moved into selling for large restaurant wholesalers. My restaurant experience has given me the opportunity to now lead our team on the commodity side of foodservice.

I am a Graduate of Elizabethtown College with a degree in Social Work. I started off my career as a Juvenile Probation Officer, but I always had a part time job in foodservice because I enjoyed the people and cooking. That joy has become the lifelong passion of learning and inspiring those around me as a foodie. I now live in Ellicott City, Md, where you can find me walking my dog in Pataspco State Park.  My two grown children are by far my greatest accomplishments. They are thriving and living their dreams independently.
